STORIES CHANGE MINDS

Become a better storyteller

Stories are the way we change minds and win hearts, and telling stories with more skill and intention is the best way to make a connection or share an idea.Storytelling is not a gift reserved for the chosen few—the professional journalist, screenwriter or novelist. It's a skill you can learn and practice. You can become a great storytellerThis is a workshop designed to demystify the craft of the storytelling, and open the door for you to bring your work and your message to those who need it. The path to success is littered with great ideas that failed because they were poorly marketed. Too often our ideas fail because we haven’t told the right story in the right way.Your idea deserves better. You don’t have to get caught up in the war for attention.Your work is more important than that. You can learn to tell better (true) stories—the kind that change how people feel, and in turn, what they do.

"Bernadette is a master teacher in effective storytelling and the importance of making a difference".

– CHRIS BRUZZO, CMO ELECTRONIC ARTS

"Now, I see writing copy and stories in a new light: A personal one. Making people care is the thread that runs through all good stories whether it's for an advertisement or a story you tell a friend at the dinner table. In this course, the gap between crafting my own personal stories and creating engaging marketing copy was bridged. I learned that good storytellers are great listeners and noticers; that storytelling is as much about empathy as it is about conveying a message. The workshop's web platform design gave me the motivation to show up every day to work on my story telling skills--it's fun! I'd recommend it to storytellers who like the "ping" and fun of social media and want to harness that social media energy more productively in a fun, troll-free environment.".

– Mini Forman, San Francisco, CA

"I hesitated in registering for this workshop, because I've learned a lot about storytelling in the last 5 years. I also hesitated because I'm not a native English speaker; I was afraid of missing my tools of using the exact right words in my sentences and using metaphors and expressions freely and spontaneously. But, I love the subject of storytelling so much that I took the leap and joined. I couldn't have guessed how much I would learn. I've learned (and experienced!) how stories can have an even bigger impact than I thought."

– Sandra de Jong, Groningen Netherlands

What Participants Are Saying

The course was an incredible experience! I appreciated the manageable breakdown, various mediums for learning, the homework and the foray into online learning. It was such a dynamic forum of interaction both online and through video calls that really made this a community experience versus an isolated one, which I was somewhat anticipating having never done any online learning. Thank you! I will continue to practice the story skills you have taught me!

– Wendy Chong

This workshop is magic —take it, and engage in it fully, and you will get so much more out of it then you can imagine. Your understanding of stories and their structure will improve, your writing will improve, your ability to give feedback will improve, your belief in yourself will improve, AND, you'll make new friends—who intellectually challenge you, provide constructive criticism, and are just good people. Do it! Do it now!

– Leah Caplan

Ever wonder why some people can tell such great stories? The StorySkills Workshop unveils secrets of story, and gives you a structure you can apply to your own voice. The content and examples distill the core concepts, and the exercises help you grow in your ability (and confidence) to craft stories. Become more effectively creative and empowered to connect with others through the craft of storytelling.

– Aaron Richmond

The story skills workshop made the fuzzy concept of storytelling something I could finally pin down and use, for myself and my clients. If you want to know how to tell your story - or stories - like the greats do, you'll find the secret sauce here. And you'll be inspired to keep noticing and keep practicing.

– Di Challenor

The Story Skills Workshop both taught me story structure and purpose. Letting my spirit soar and my creativity a chance to speak out loud was one of the best things to come out of this workshop. Having solid feedback, kind and thoughtful, by coaches, Bernadette, and the writing members, was like a warm hug on a winters afternoon, in front of a roaring fire, after coming in from the cold. I would recommend this workshop to all professionals. To all writers or would-be writers. To novelists who want their novel to say something, to entrepreneurs who have a story to tell but don't know how to tell it.

– Yvonne DiVita

Outstanding method, remarkable lessons, awesome community = improvement is guaranteed.

– Andre Perniciano

If you wish to know how not to induce yawns and eye rolls, start here to tell impactful tales.

– Amit Charles

I used to communicate in a rational, logical tone and wondered why it was hard for others to get my ideas. I joined the Story Skills Workshop with one main goal: to know how to brief a writer about my ideas and stories. But learning the methodology that Bernadette teaches, I realized that stories are everywhere around me. I learned how to capture them, keep them handy, structure them in compelling ways, but best of all, tell them in a way that viscerally engages people. Now, I tell stories to my clients and also my kids. Stories that get heard and remembered because they move imagination, touch hearts, teach and communicate my ideas better and clearer.

– Abdelrahman Nooh

In short, I got much more than my money’s worth. Yes, I learned how to tell a story better. The course materials helped point to that process with the excellent weekly lessons and video helps. And we could also parachute in where we could and not feel “left behind”. What I wasn’t expecting was connecting with a whole new group of individuals that cared, people with whom I’d now move mountains to have dinner or paint their kitchen. The instructors set that standard with their presence, their kindness, encouragement and generosity. They seemed always there to help, as if all I had to do was start typing and they were already reading, encouraging. I believe it trickled down on all of us. Thank you, for delivering on your promise and for all the unexpected benefits.

– Randy Blosil

Writing and telling my stories, which is deep within my soul, have led me to a greater understanding of who I am and also the people and events I have encountered in my life. And it contributed more to my personal development. I have discovered my voice and I hope with more experience I can help others who don’t have a voice. I hope that, if you are reading this, it will empower you to discover the beautiful unique person that you are and whatever answers you seek, may be unfolded for you in your stories.

– Ada Lincoln

I entered the Story Skills Workshop as an expert fact transmitter. I could take almost any topic, distill it into a crisp list of bullet points, and deftly dump those essential bits into almost anyone’s head. But nothing important ever happened. People were more informed, but seldom moved. The Story Skills Workshop taught me that heads and hearts move only in tandem and there can be no motion without emotion. In the Workshop, we learned it’s only stories that can call up emotions, and it’s only stories that our hearts are listening for. That’s what I was missing.

– Gary Drouillard

I do not feel like leaving this workshop. I can not forget the experience. It is amazing. It is unbelievable to think that I am a storyteller. Thank you very much for creating story tellers out of us. We will cherish the moments for a long long time.

– Saravanan Murugan

I already feel more confident articulating my stories with structure, purpose, and impact.

– Judy Cheung-Wood

Personally, I have learned so much from my peers and the generosity of feedback, gentle nudges, and pushes, with unique perspectives. The course has been magic, and I agree it is thanks to the people —creators, coaches, and fellow aspiring writers.

– Ross Polvara

It’s been an amazing experience for me to learn to tell my stories in a compelling way and to know that my stories are relevant for others to hear. I think I’m hooked!

– Kim Lande

This was the most incredible assignment I’ve been given in years…and this is coming from a lifelong learner. I won’t be able to read or watch another story without thinking of these new tools. I’m so grateful.

– Connie Cermak

The Story Skills Workshop helped me to understand and practice what causes REAL change in the world. Before, stories were only the out-of-the-ordinary things that happened in life. Now, everything is a story! Little epiphanies here and there, every time my mind is blown… It’s all stories. And, now that I know how to communicate them, I’m getting a lot more from my work and relationships. It’s a game-changer.

– Zach Garside

Your insights and generosity have made such a difference in our confidence and abilities to create stories with impact. The 5 C’s will be a tool I use repeatedly in how I approach a story going forward. Thanks so much!

– Kymberly Dakin

I'm understanding the power and impact of the Story skills is about presenting myself as vulnerable and real. And when I cross this comfortable zone, to jump into the magic zone for bringing this sensation of sharing and connection, and that is when I feel the most rewarding lessons and insights.

– Luis Urban

The beauty is, you’re providing a blueprint, a foundation for all the stories I have to tell going forward. And I couldn’t be more grateful to you and my fellow students for chiseling me into a better storyteller.

– Michael Kennedy

I am learning to find my voice and express it in ways that feels like home…loved learning from the community who are bravely and courageously sharing their stories

– Michelle Rizal

I am thrilled being in the Story Skills Workshop. I know it is going to help me with my stories now, and in the future. I am amazed at the tangible learning curve for all of us doing the hard work!

– Terri Tomoff

Before the Story Skills Workshop my halting, and infrequent, attempts at writing were disjointed, verbose and lacking clarity. After the Workshop, I’m feeling enormously more confident in being able to present a coherent and engaging story arc.

–Brian Allen

The community has been amazing. One of the most positive learning environments I’ve ever been in. Thanks everyone.

– Dave James

My stories are more structured and effective and clear. My aha moment recently was that speaking a story helped me give it more structure and eliminate the parts that I didn't need.

– Diana Sherblom

I have recommended this workshop to others -anyone who will listen, actually. If you’d like to learn how to make an impact, if you’d like to learn how to make a change, if you’d like to learn how to become a better marketer, a better writer, a better storyteller, a better listener, and a better speaker -the Story Skills Workshop is for you.

– Paul D'Arcy

If there is one thing I’ve learned from this workshop, it’s that once you open up and start sharing these stories, beautiful things can happen, large or small, they all matter.

– Esther de Jong

Thank you so much for this workshop. It was my dream to be writing stories and telling them.

– Anil Valecha

I always considered myself a storyteller. As a startup founder, I've had to tell stories to customers, prospective employees and investors. As someone who enjoys speaking, I have shared stories on the TED stage and at the Comedy Cellar. Hence, I joined, curious and a tad skeptical. Call it arrogance, if you will. I learned. I learned a structured playbook approach to storytelling. I loved the scaffolding the course affords and the many examples and resources. I've been saving the best for last - the community is lovely. A community of storytellers helping each other tell better stories. I know my stories will be sharper, and from a richer color palette for sure.

– Lux Narayan

Before I took this workshop, I would only enjoy non-fiction and had a bias against fiction. I believed that fiction was just for entertainment and never to cause a change. But in this workshop, I realized the power of stories. Stories, nonfiction and fiction, can cause change.

– Manu Satsangi

Initially I was apprehensive about taking the workshop because I didn't want others reading my remedial stories. What I learned is that having the opinions and perspectives of others is essential to making stories better. It is motivating, uplifting, and a real eye-opener to receive feedback from others who are on the same journey. The guidance from the coaches was critical, and the foundation of the core information provided, increased my confidence. My stories now have purpose. This is just the beginning.

– Yoland Durden

Before I was very skeptical about online courses. This is my first online experience. You set the bar very high. Now, I have realized I can learn new skills through online workshops. I was also skeptical about the possibility of improving my story telling skills and techniques. But now I can see what to work on. I have started writing a diary in the form of 5Cs I learned at this workshop.

– Esra Sertoglu

Storytelling is a must to make change happen. I now know I have the confidence and methodology to apply it. I strongly recommend attending this workshop.

– Eugenio La Mesa

The Story Skills Workshop I considered myself a decent storyteller. Now I know that the most evocative, moving, influential stories are comprised of a very particular storytelling DNA and I can now use this new understanding to move others, to serve others with my own stories.

– Mary Ellen Bratu

This is so much bigger than learning to write a story that will get someone to buy what you are selling. It delivers on that, for sure, yet it's the personal growth I experienced in people through the contraction and expansion of storytelling that had the most meaningful and lasting impact on me. This is a workshop I would sign up for again.

– Kim Percival

Taking part in the workshop was like looking for, and finding, buried treasure. I discovered my own stories, hidden gems I'd taken for granted which, thanks to the space offered by the workshop, I was able to polish until they shone.

– Caroline Harvey

I became a better storyteller and that’s not all. I also became a better person because of the workshop, through seeing and hearing things better. I've met many people from the other side of the world who I keep connected with outside the workshop. But the most important thing is the feedback I received. It steered me in a way I’ve long forgotten about. It helped me see the true value in my stories. It gave me confidence, clarity and confirmation.

– Roland Koronya

Wow wow wow what a workshop! I can’t believe the transformation in my own understanding of the importance of storytelling. This workshop has been the best part of my days for the last 6 weeks. True magic.

– Conor McCarthy

The Story Skills Workshop will help you if you want to tell better stories whether to your kids, to your employees or to a wider audience at work. You will learn how to uncover your best stories and deliver them in a way that is compelling and keeps your audience engaged until the end.

– Cat Preston

Storytelling is an essential skill and it's not easy to learn. The workshop has grown me in more ways than the degrees I've done thanks to how it's delivered and the incredible people it attracts. I cannot think of a better thing you can do for yourself.

– Rosie Odsey

It's simple but not easy. You'll never look at a talk or a book or marketing campaign the same way again. Bernadette gives you the tools to understand how to construct an effective story, and by workshoping it with others you learn the craft in less than a month. It's powerful and life-changing if you choose to go deep and tell the stories you haven't previously shared. You'll write until it brings tears to your eyes, and then you'll write some more.

– Paula Braun

It was wonderful a wonderful experience. It helped me develop my storytelling, but also connected with a community of amazing people.

– Ashley Janssen

Story Skills is a place to explore the parts of your life that you can turn into compelling stories in order to change the world for the better. There's a framework and a generous community that will challenge you to tell better stories.

– Dave Bates

As a former journalist, I always felt confident about my storytelling abilities, but this workshop allowed me to push through the mindset of an objective observer and into one of empathy. This workshop has helped me become a better marketer, better storyteller and even a better person.

– Edmund Tijerina

This workshop gives you the skills and tools to understand how a great story gets told. More importantly, it's a safe space of generous and insightful feedback which pushes you to keep reshaping and retelling so that you can feel when you've got it right.

– Jen Stumbles

The framework presented is great, but it’s so much more than that because you actually learn by doing. I’ve spent years learning about writing and while the actual framework was not that new, small distinctions made by Bernadette, the other coaches and mostly your peer students, make it amazing. There are also so many examples of the technical aspects and just amazingly told stories. I’ve met so many interesting folks and am now getting better at telling my business stories, and my personal stories. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in getting better at telling their stories.

– Andrew Ingkavet

The Story Skills Workshop is for anyone who wants to make a difference in their life and the lives of others. Bernadette and Seth help to demystify storytelling. As you participate in the workshop, with vulnerability and bravery, you come to understand, not only that you have a lifetime of stories to tell but that anyone, with the right tools and effort, can tell effective stories.

– Lisa Cruz

I expected to learn more about storytelling. What I did not expect was to learn more about life. As my fellow students worked together through the curriculum we shared real stories of life, drama, work, parenting, childhood, success and failure. Each draft of the story we got better. Each new draft we gained a new insight. The possibilities for learning were endless. I feel like my storytelling skills advanced significantly; yet also learned how to connect and build better communities online. I made new friends and new connections across the globe. The Storytelling workshop was easily the best time/money investment I have made in recent years.

– David Billson

The Story Skills Workshop has given me a story framework to really make our customers the hero of their world, and through the online collaborative forum, the confidence to put the framework into practice. This framework applies to all aspects of everyday life, and I'm now translating things into stories all day long! Thank you Bernadette and the team, for sharing this gift for life.

– Juliana Button

Before taking this workshop, I'd read a number of books on storytelling for business. I'd certainly learned from them, but knew I was missing something. I was frustrated since I couldn't get the empathy and reaction I was looking for when I told my customer's stories. They didn't get much readership nor reactions. They felt cold and factual, not alive, emotional and convincing. I knew I had to do something if I wanted to change people's lives. I knew I had to find a better way of connecting with people. The Story Skills workshop filled the gap. The interactions, the input I received, as well as the want to help others helped me see not only how I can choose better stories, but also how to tell them better. Along the way, I also learned how so many people want to help me succeed, how to have better conversations, seek out critical input and be able to provide it more constructively.

– Arash Sayadi

I came into the workshop with hopes, ideas, and a little fear. I came out with the realization that showing up - even for 5 minutes a day and doing the work actually works! I created stories that I am proud of and shared with a community of people that helped me feel seen, and pushed me to be better. If you want to really learn and do the work of storytelling - this workshop is for you!

– Pauline McKinney

I've struggled to tell stories my entire adult life, but after completing the Story Skills Workshop and thanks to the support and wisdom of the coaches, the community, and Bernadette, I can engage an audience, understand what details to include (and leave out), and most importantly, I've found the others! Thanks to all, and looking forward to staying connected and continuing the storytelling journey together.

– Juan Cifrian

I've always been a good writer but felt that my public speaking skills were not as good. I took this workshop to find my voice and gain more confidence in public speaking. What I discovered was a highly collaborative group of people from all walks of life who provided positive feedback in a safe environment. The coaches and my colleagues have all been exemplary in their desire and dedication to help each other improve. Being able to tell compelling stories is essential to success in the business world and meaningful relationships in our personal lives. I would highly recommend this workshop experience to those seeking to become the best versions of themselves they can be

– Ben Griffith

Before the Story Skills Workshop, I didn't really know the basics of how to tell a story, or what made it relatable. Now, as I exit the workshop, I not only have the structure of how to tell a compelling story, but also greater confidence in doing so.

– Gage Bock

The Story Skills workshop taught me the power of generosity. Before the workshop I thought I was going to learn about telling better stories. And I did! What I didn't expect is that my entire approach to life and business would be transformed. Tap into generosity. Watch the magic!

– Jesse Walker

If you know where to exert force, you can move mountains. And if you know how to tell a great story, you can shift a culture. The Story Skills Workshop teaches a framework that you can begin applying in your life today. And the cohort of students help to push you to dig deeper into your stories and absorb the structure of storytelling into your core.

– Sean O’Connor

Before I took this workshop, I knew I needed to share a message through my brand. Now that I've been through it, I understand how important it is to learn and know how to use the tools to make my story worth reading.

– Norma Barrón Noé

I got more than I expected from this workshop! Great working structure, exercise prompts, and collaborative feedback enabled me to vastly improve my storytelling skills.

– Weston Blundell

If anyone out there wants to learn how to tell a story, this class is for you. I would say that the class was a stunning success for me... and because I did it, I gained even more skills that will serve me well when I go back to working on my book.

– Katy Dalgleish

The workshop far exceeded my expectations. I'm a better storyteller. But here is the greater and unexpected value. It changed me. I learned to understand my feelings with clarity that I didn't already possess. Collaboration was incredible. On a single call with people from the US, Israel, Greece, Switzerland, I was struck by how alike we are, but at the same time, unique perspectives are invaluable. Because we were on a similar journey the rich feedback on my stories was better than I could have gotten from anyone else. There was a warmth and friendship formed in just weeks. I felt like we'd known each other for years.

– Gary Peterson

From none to a ton! I've been meaning to write for decades, but always thought I had nothing to say. Repeatedly postponing starting a blog. Until this workshop. A game changer. Not only it taught me how to craft stories, but also where to find them. The workshop gives a framework you can use. Or confidently break it, knowing why and how. I feel much more capable when it comes to talking about my business or anything else. Invest in yourself and give this a try. You'll get skills for life. And you'll do it surrounded by fellow students who won't let you down.

– Michel Antoine Castonguay

All my life, I have been afraid of not being perfect. The format of the workshop encouraged everyone to participate, but it had to be given in a positive and loving way, I felt OK being vulnerable. This not only helped open the creative juices, I felt empowered to help others, which was one of my highlights. It was so much fun to watch each person that I was interacting with blossom. The coaches never criticized, but their provocative questions always got me thinking of my stories from a fresh perspective. In just a short 4 weeks, so much fear dissolved as a result of this workshop.

– Susan Gibson

Before I started the Story Skills workshop I was worried I would be anonymous in a sea of great writers. But now, I know that wherever we are in the world we can offer friendship, feedback and generate meaningful stories. You really do get out of it what you put into it.

– Karen Funke

I learned that before this workshop my stories were really just anecdotes. Now I have a better understanding of the value of the structure of a story and how it is used to engage your audience and communicate your message more effectively.

– Allison Slute

Stories are the currency of humanity, and learning how to tell better stories is life-changing both for the storyteller and the audience. The Story Skills Workshop gave me tools and support from my fellow storytellers which have helped me improve my storytelling. And they can help you, too!

– Steve Hultquist

This workshop is one that builds a community of people who will care about you and support you. That’s been my biggest benefit.

– Viola Dwyer

I have already recommended this workshop to others. It's an amazing place to discover your stories, and learn how to deliver them well.

–Michael Averill

This is a transformational workshop and exercise. This will dramatically improve you confidence in your skills and will improve every part of your life (family, personal, professional). If I had doubt before in my abilities to tell stories and I now can attest this is working fantastically. I can only recommend

– Olivier Houart

This workshop showed me how to turn seemingly ordinary events of everyday life into powerful stories that can inspire and motivate action. Through the lessons, and the feedback and practice with other students, I learned a process that can help me craft my own stories, and help others tell their stories as well.

– Brent Manke

Communication = stories = communication. This course will anchor for its students how 'memorable communication' occurs within stories - an art form that as a culture we have de-emphasized. Get it back. Take this course. Tell your stories. Make a difference!

– Tim Manning

A great transformational experience, gifted with powerful stories and tools necessary to get inspired! Thank you.

– Stelios Matis

Feedback from peers and the short format of the exercises prevented me getting bogged down with my inner critic. Bernadette's brilliant tools gave me new power. I’m now a story-omnivore, work-life, personal-life there's a story for every occasion. What will you write?

– Michelle Spencer

I could string words together to make pretty language but it lacked coherence and structure. The Story Skills Workshop provided an easy to follow structure to get to the point in a way which still sounds and feels like me. I'm looking forward to doing more practice utilising downloaded the excellent pdfs. Thanks Bernadette, Seth and wonderful cohort!

– Julie van Schie

A really good place to start your writing journey. The coaches are thorough, yet caring, and completely, wholeheartedly there for you. For this I am grateful.

– Francine Gregory

What a ride. I see now stories in a totally different picture and most importantly through compact repeatable framework that is so versatile. Thank you for opening my eyes how to tell better stories.

– Jaroslav Kohout

Because of the work on writing and telling I did in this workshop, a recent interview I did went incredibly well. I was able to quickly and succinctly make my point and, more importantly, engage my listeners. In fact, the interviewer said: "You’re a great storyteller." I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the coaches, and the community for your help and guidance on this part of my journey. Thank you!

– Dawn Repola

The workshop is designed to walk you through the process step-by-step and also explains the neuroscience behind why some stories are more compelling than others. The framework that Bernadette provides is powerful and effective. I appreciated the examples given each step of the way. The best part, however, was the support of the community of other students and the coaches. Everyone was genuinely invested in telling their stories but also helping to make others' stories clearer and more impactful. I have continued to keep in touch with some of the students and look forward to sharing my stories with them for years to come. The workshop gave me the confidence to put my own work into the world.

– Emily McDermott

I've taken a handful of workshops online and in person and this by far has been my favorite. The cadence and structure were spot on for optimal learning. I love the format of learning a lesson, seeing a few awesome examples and then practicing on my own. The added benefit was that I was not actually on my own! I had coaches and the loving community who shared their perspective and helped me find my way.

– Rebecca Murauskas

I came to this course for superficial professional reasons and found myself enriched personally. The frameworks and the lessons you narrated were profound, positive and timeless. Thank you for being generous with your knowledge and lighting the way during these dark times. Excited to carry these lessons with me and share more stories in the years to come.

– Michael Ash

I am so delighted I decided to take the plunge and do the Story Skills Workshop. I would use stories in my work and felt pretty competent, but knew there was room for improvement. I feel I have grown so much in these past few weeks, not only in my story skills, but in developing my empathy, appreciating my audience and becoming better at telling my stories. The workshop has more than delivered on its promises and I look forward to practicing and honing my skills over the coming weeks, months and years. I would recommend this to anyone, as it's not just a business skill, but a core life skill that allows us to build meaningful relationships with anyone.

– Mary McGuire

Do it. You won't regret it. In fact, you'll probably come back for more. I know I will be—it's a great workshop to deepen your writing skills.

– Catherine Bonargent

I've always had an interest in stories and storytelling. I used to think that it was only for people who are insanely charismatic, or just had a natural gift. But now I know better. What has become INCREDIBLY clear after going through this program is that there are concrete PRINCIPLES to crafting a great story. And when you know the principles, not only do the way you look at stories completely change, it now empowers you to create stories of your own. I'll be forever grateful for taking this course!

– Calvin Wayman

The core training is very good, helpful and provides a framework you can follow fairly easily. And that when you apply it to story writing, know that it's nimble and you'll have to bring your own discernment to the process vs expected a formula that is applied in a straight forward manner. Most importantly, I'd share not to expect any critical feedback and, instead, encouragement and affirmation.

– Cheryl Stevens

Having hosted my own podcast since January 2019, I felt I could help guests craft decent stories. However, I had little idea as to why that was, but thanks to the Story Skills Workshop, I now understand the fundamentals that create a great story and am more positive than before that great stories lay in every corner of our daily lives. I'm thrilled to be tasked with bringing light to them. Thank you for this workshop!

– Rien MacDonald

I got so much from doing this workshop. Being someone who didn't consider themselves a writer or a speaker, the idea of the course seemed intimidating. I'm not the most confident person in the world either. This course helped with all of that. Before the course even ended I was able to apply what I learned. I was in a situation at work where we weren't getting results that we needed to keep our project moving along efficiently. I had to tell the story to one of the project leads. When I told the story, I was confident and it flowed, the project lead loved the idea. We went and talked to the person who was going to have to apply my idea and we started talking to him about it and the project lead looked at me and said; "Tell him the story!" with a big smile. It was pretty exciting! I got to use my new skill and make a positive impression with my leadership. I don't know if I would've had the confidence to tell the story and I definitely wouldn't have had the ability to tell it so well if I hadn't taken The Story Skills Workshop.

– Joe Altomare

When I signed up for the course I had no idea how much I would gain. I planned to focus on professional stories but found myself exploring personal stories and how they could enhance my professional reputation. The workshop format created an amazing safe space to experiment and to (give and) receive feedback. The connections with people around the world were mindblowing. I now have more self-belief and more clarity about the stories that will make an impact in different contexts. If you're considering doing the course but wondering if you have stories worth telling or who will listen, don't hold back - you'll find your people at the Story Skills Workshop.

– Sara Tiefenbrun

I would highly recommend the Story Skills Workshop. The learning environment was like nothing I have ever experienced. The other students were very supportive. The feedback from the instructors and the peer reviews were incredibly helpful. The skills I acquired in the workshop have improved my writing a great deal.

– Peter Argondizzo

I started using the skills from day 2 of this workshop. I received positive feedback from my newsletter readers and I am already using the skill set of telling a story that is worthwhile writing, reading and sharing in my upcoming ebook. Thank you to the entire team. I am a different thinker forever due to this workshop.

– Indu Arora

The Story Skills Workshop is just incredible with the opportunity to learn from others and contribute! I feel myself more skilled, equipped, and more confident in writing stories but also analyzing them. I also came to realize that story skills were more central than I thought. This is really a skill that’s used on a daily basis. Thanks again for all!

– Lilian Mahoukou

This is an incredible platform to learn. It has forced me to write without being judgemental of my own craft. I always wanted to write but I usually gave up thinking that I don’t have it in me or I must enrol in a degree program to get the right writing chops. I registered for this workshop and it’s the best decision I have ever made. Thanks for creating this.

– Pearl Dhingra

I thought I was able to tell clients' stories really well, but now with the storytelling lens I've learned from the workshop, I am able to discover a better story for clients hence more effective connection with their customers. Before I joined the workshop, I thought I had few resources to tell a great story, but now I realize I'm more resourceful than I gave myself credit for. It is a wonderful feeling!

– Jessica Zou

This workshop gave me the opportunity to go deep into what makes a good story, how stories are used to make emotional connections, and most importantly, motivate people to action. We analyzed every aspect of our own stories, which was very challenging and revealing. Engaging with other people's stories drove home the universality of story, what it feels like to be the audience, and how to dissect and objectively construct a story. I became more conscious about the structure, mechanics, and purpose of story. I intend to continue practicing the skills I learned, and work to tell stories that will be more meaningful to my audience.

– Cindy Safronoff

It's been years since I wanted to write stories. In just a few lessons, the structures taught helped me share with my peers the stories I've been having in my heads. The feedback was generous, empathetic and encouraging! It's a short effective workshop to get good writing habits and write powerful stories that ignite change.

– Marie-Anne Bernasconi

Learning the framework of what makes a compelling story was such a game changer for my work. Before this workshop I hated to write my blog stories and now I can honestly say that I look forward to the act of writing.

– Mary Ahern

The Story Skills Workshop provides an opportunity to tap into creativity you already have to tell stories you want to tell.

– Melanie Selwood

Do it!!!! If a beginner or a seasoned pro, you cannot help but benefit from the lessons, the practice, and the helpful voices of the community.

– Paul Triller

I'm a storytelling coach and am always looking to "up my game" by reading books and participating in workshops such as this one. In many cases, the material validates what I do. In many others, it teaches me new ways of looking at things. This workshop was so vast and multi-faceted that I got several examples of both! I gained great confidence in my feedback by engaging with the generous community of participants who populated the message boards and shared their stories. When I took the time to engage, it was truly like a storytelling boot camp. Easily worth the investment of money if you also invest the time. I might even sign up to do it again!

– David Levy

The Story Skills Workshop is a great community of generous sharers, curious learners and concerned coaches - all working together to make learning and doing happen. The workshop significantly altered the depth of how I engaged and experienced ordinary life moments. It made me a sharper observer of happenings around me. It empowered me with the skills to shape and share experiences as stories that are powerful and memorable.

– Umesh D.

It's not easy, you have to show up, and you have to write. The more the better. The feedback you get from your peers is invaluable, and it has changed the way I think about, and approach writing.

– Luke M.

The Story Skills Workshop offered me an additional outlet for creativity. After taking the workshop, I'm now a better storyteller and more effective communicator as a creative consultant for musicians and composers. I have also used the lessons (5Cs) to guide these musical artists towards better storytelling as a way to better connect with the media, their current audience, and their future audiences.

– David Srebnik

The Story Skills Workshop really delivered. I came away with a structure for writing that has greatly improved my rate of success in writing a compelling story. The unexpected bonus is the support from coaches and fellow students. I haven’t had this much fun problem-solving since I worked at an ad agency years ago. The level of energy, intelligence and creativity this program attracts was beyond my expectations.

– Tina Anderson

Liesbeth Konink Before I took this workshop, I wrote anecdotes, now I write stories.

– Liesbeth Konink

I've followed Seth's blog for a long time and found him to be wise and credible. This is the first workshop of his that I've taken. It was the perfect learning environment. It was self paced with an appropriate framework and nudges. I absolutely loved it. I took my writing skills to a new level. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their story writing chops!

– Dave Dickson

Thank you again for creating this wonderful workshop and space. It has been a bright light in my life and helped me to grow as a person and storyteller.

– Courtney Tripp

Surprised and thankful, I feel much more confident personally, as a writer and as a leader. At the close of the workshop, my parenting memoir boasts a new working title, 'Am I a Good Mother?' and two or three more story scenes. As I build my library of stories, I move closer to my goal of telling better stories. Thanks to all involved in this wonderful workshop!

Workshop Manifesto

  1. The best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else.

  2. Generous efforts are their own reward.

  3. Being clear about where you’re stuck is the best way to get unstuck.

  4. When in doubt, connect with the community.

The truth is that the more you put in, the more you’ll get out. If you simply watch the videos, that’s what you'd get in a typical online course, but the real magic happens when you become a contributor, a teacher, and a partner. In addition to the videos and prompts, every student has the opportunity to engage in a daily practice, a support group designed to build the habit of regularly shipping the work—streaks work. The real learning in our workshops happens when you do the work, and the work is stretching by giving it your best attempt and joining discussions with other students. It will feel uncomfortable, at first. The lessons outline the work, and the discussions make it real. Our coaches aren’t there with test prep or right answers — instead, they help you focus on the work at hand. With 6,000+ students in this workshop over the last few years, we've seen extraordinary results occur because our students embrace a simple possibility: That better is possible. That generous, open-hearted work in a community is a magical opportunity. Does that sound like what you’re looking for?Coaches Support
We have a team of coaches who will support you during the workshop. Our coaches model the culture of possibility, commitment, respect, and connection.
They are trained to help facilitate and bring out the best in you by reflecting questions and holding you accountable. They will not provide you with answers, reassurance or validation. Mostly because that’s impossible. The answers, reassurance and validation can only come from you. Your contributions to other students is the path.
